William Ernest Schroll, (Bill) 80 years old, of Vernon Connecticut passed away Sunday, July 19, 2020 after a short illness at Vernon Manor Nursing Home. Bill tragically departs from his wife of 55 years, Sandra Marie Schroll. Bill was born in Jay County, Indiana on February 4, 1940. He was the son of the late Ray Earl Schroll and Pearl Jane Schroll. Bill is survived by his 3 beloved children Kimberly Bartley Palmer and her husband Bob of Bristol, William Schroll and his girlfriend Debbie of Vernon, and Jimmy Schroll and his wife Dena of Manchester. Bill also leaves behind his 10 loving grandchildren Edward, Valerie, Joshua and Alyssa Bartley, Ryan Scott, Amanda Calve and her husband Josh, Meghan Schroll, Chelcee Surdam and her husband Jake, Ashley and Kaylee Schroll, and 5 great grandchildren Christopher, Caleb, Connor, Madison, and Noelle and his beloved furry companion Rusty Dusty Schroll. Bill had five siblings, four predeceased: Wilma Jean Garufi, Thomas Schroll, Leonard Schroll, and Mary Bixby; and is survived by his brother Larry Pagano and his wife Barbara who currently reside in East Windsor. Bill also leaves behind his beloved brother-in-law and friend Dominic Garufi, husband of Bill’s late sister Wilma Jean. Bill also leaves behind multiple nieces and nephews. Bill was well known around his tight community in Vernon. He spent his working years driving a refuse truck for the same company that’s name changed throughout the years and eventually retired at age 65 . Bill spent his free time doing his favorite activities such as: spending countless hours listening to country music, fishing, spending time with his family, watching western movies, and drinking his favorite Dunkin’ Donuts coffee with his plain croissant. Bill always offered a lending-hand to his family and friends. He was most known by his family for his big contagious smile, loving gentle heart, making cow sounds like “MERRR”, and for feeding peanuts to the squirrels and blue jays. His family will miss him dearly and will hold all the memories close to their hearts. Bill’s family would like to thank all the loving and caring staff at Vernon Manor for taking such wonderful care of him throughout his last days here on Earth.
