William P. Wilson, age 89, son of James V. Wilson and Susan May Patton, passed away July 20, 2020. Beloved husband of Carol for 69 wonderful years. Loving father of Jim (Kathy), Dave (Janet), Gary (Lisa), Doug (Barb), Linda, Bob (Nancy), Jen Klaus (Mark), and Karyn Lennon (B.J.). Cherished grandfather of 17, great grandfather of 18 and great great grandfather of 3. Dearest brother of Sue Barry (Mike). Preceded in death by siblings John and Martha.
Bill was the epitome of a devout, loving, hard-working, family man. His honesty and integrity were beyond reproach. He always enjoyed watching, and actively participating in, his kids and grandkids sporting interests and other activities. He was an enthusiastic competitor in the family golf scramble, “around the world” ping pong, baggo, a good game of horse or 21 and numerous board and card games. Though raised a Presbyterian, he was very involved in his children’s Catholic church and school communities at St. Norbert, Sacred Heart and Divine Child. He worked bingo, painted social halls, and did whatever needed to be done. He was a former President of the Inkster Lions Club, and active member of the Jaycees. After 16 years at the Detroit News, Bill spent over 30 years working as a parts manager for Chrysler dealerships. Later in his career, he also owned an inventory service company which he continued to operate well after his “retirement”.
Visitation will be Sunday, July 26th at 3pm until the covered, outdoor Memorial Service that will begin at 5pm at Harry J. Will Funeral Home on Six Mile Road in Livonia. Masks are required.
Due to the current funeral home restrictions because of COVID, the family would appreciate donations to the Michigan Parkinson’s Foundation or Penrickton Center for Blind Children in lieu of flowers.
