Henry Hodges Sr. (Sonny) was born on June 3, 1949 in Tchula, Mississippi to Lillie Mae and Louis Hodges Sr. Henry was the eighth child of ten children.
Henry confessed his hope and faith in Christ at an early age. It was at Union Grove M.B Church under Rev. C.T Baker that Henry was baptized. He moved to Chicago Illinois at a very young age where he attended and graduated from Richard T. Crane High School. In 1969, Henry was inducted into the United States Marine Corps where he fought in the Vietnam War. Upon leaving, Henry earned the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Device Rifle Marksmanship Badge and a Combat Action Ribbon.
Once Henry returned home, he started working for CDT Transit Service as a driver. Henry later began working for the Bulls/White Sox Academy as an engineer until he retired. In his free time, Henry enjoyed pool, bowling, dominoes and having family gatherings.
Henry met and married Henrietta McCoy on August 14, 1996.
He was preceded by his wife Henrietta McCoy, daughter Felicia Duvall, both parents, brothers; Louis Jr., Elbert, and Albert; sisters Katherine, Elizabeth, Lillie and Marion.
Henry departed this life on July 17, 2020. Henry leaves to cherish his legacy and memory, three children Aishia Stevens, Henry Jr. (Brittany) Hodges of Davenport Iowa, and Laquita Hodges of Newark Ohio. Four step children Ronald Nesbit, Roosevelt McCoy, Laverne Alston and Latanya McCoy. Thirteen grandchildren, one great grandson; two sisters Mary McNeil and Helen Gary both of Chicago IL. In addition, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
In consideration of the safety of our guests and associates, Kenny Bros.
