He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Alda, his loving children, Suellen Galish and her husband Joseph Wightman, Leonard Galish and his wife Penny as well as his cherished grandchildren, Ross and Edward Wightman and Aidan and Hayley Galish.
He was the last surviving sibling of 12.
He played in Triple A baseball as a catcher and 2nd base for a farm team in Pennsylvania prior to enlisting in the U.S. Marines Corp. He served his country proudly during WWll stationed in the Pacific Island.
Edward was a textile artist, owing and operating his own business, he then worked for 40 years for Vera Neumann from where he retired.
He enjoyed gardening and "puttering" around the house, he also enjoyed a good game of golf.
Edward was a wonderful husband, a loving father and a doting grandpa. He especially loved to be around his grandchildren, they all meant the world to him.
Calling hours will be Friday, July 24th from 10:30am to 11:30 am at the Thos L. Shinn Funeral Home, 10 Hilliard Dr., Manahawkin, NJ. A Mass will follow at 11:30am at St. Mary of the Pines Catholic Church, 100 Bishop Lane, Manahawkin.
Burial will be held privately at the request of the family.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Edward's name may be sent to the Kidney Foundation or to a charity of your choice.
