Born and raised in St. Louis, MO. Attended Epiphany and St. Gabriel the Archangel grade schools. He Graduated from McBride High School in 1950 and on to study accounting and business at St. Louis University. While there he was acclaimed as an outstanding member of ROTC. After graduation in 1954, he joined the Air Force and spent his 2 years at various bases in Oklahoma, Colorado and Texas. He passed his love of Oklahoma to his son Greg; they shared many happy memories of OU Football. Jim was Honorably Discharged in 1956, but remained in the National Guard. He went to work for IBM/Service Bureau. It was not his calling so he returned to St. Louis and started his career in business forms under the mentorship of Gunther Kohn, of the Jerome Group.
Jim met and married his first wife Mary Lou and the started their family of three sons. In 1966, he took the risk to start his own company: Continental Business Forms. He built a 5 unit office warehouse which ignited his next career in purchasing and renting property. He retired in 1992.
He left his hometown of St. Louis to follow his dream of playing tennis every day in San Diego. He played tennis almost every day, first at Balboa Tennis Club and then also at Scripps Ranch Swim and Racquet.
Jim married his current wife, Donna in 1999 after a long courtship. They shared the fun of purchasing and renting properties.
Jim is survived by wife, Donna. Sons Gregory Apprill(Stephanie) of Redlands, CA., Paul Apprill of St. Petersburg, FL., Christopher Apprill of Festus, MO. Grandsons Robert Apprill(Nicole) of Lawrence, KS and Corey Apprill of Festus, MO. Grandsons by marriage Zachary Gomez, USAF Las Vegas, NV., Nicholas Gomez of Redlands, CA..Great grandsons Henry and Simon Apprill of Lawrence, KS.. Brother in law Richard Crespi(Rosemary, deceased) of St. Louis, MO. and sister Anita Ohlhausen of Oakton, Virginia. He has numerous nephews and nieces.
