My father passed away July 23 at 5:00 AM after losing his fight to Severe Covid-19. We never expected this. We did everything known to try to save him, we gave him positive antibody blood, remdesivir & other excellent medical care. This virus hit my dad hard.
Dad was 85 going on 60 and in very good health. My dad came to work every day to help out in the daily operations of the business. My Dad did all the professional reporting to our clients and did an excellent & meticulous job, Dad didn't need spell check on his computer and we settled many cases. I'm proud to say that he taught me how to do it right, he was a great teacher to my 2 sons Brian & Michael who are also in the business. We always discussed business, he loved to come to work to discuss business and how to handle it. If he didn't come to work then he was home helping my mother, taking her to the doctor, shopping and helping her in every way, loving and caring. My Dad loved his family and would do anything for them. My dad and I were extremely close, which most of you know. People use to think that we were brothers. I spoke to him at least twice a day, every day and always asked for his advice.
My Dad was a great man, a very kind man, a teacher to all, a problem solver, a businessman, a gift giver, a great sense of humor, he loved old classic cars and old hollow body Gibson Guitars, he always said the older they get the better they play, and let’s not forget that he loved Facebook and wasn't afraid to voice his opinion. Dad was a great husband, a loving grandfather, and a loving great grandfather to 5 and 1 on the way that he will never see. Dad always answered his phone when we called. My dad loved playing guitar and has collected many over the last 50 years. My dad loved Baseball and in his earlier years was a coach in Hollywood with his other brother Joe Rega. He never missed a baseball game with his grandson Steven Rega’s & Brian & Michael Rega's team. Growing up in N.J. my dad worked very hard to support his family, he work in the insurance business and at night played his guitar in restaurants and sometimes drove a delivery truck. We moved here in 1967 where he continued to work in the insurance business and also in the car business, things were way different in Hollywood FL back then. My Dad always supported his family.
I can say that I learned a lot from my dad every day. I'm glad that WE celebrated every Father's Day, Christmas Day, always his birthday (Dec 21 will be a hard one without him) company parties and many other events.
My heart is broken and the entire Rega Family is devastated over this unexpected death of my father. I'm glad that I did spend 64 years and 5 months with him. I'm glad we told each other "I Love You" seconds before they put him on the vent. I'm glad he was my dad for over 64 Years
I'm going to miss my dad more & more every day.
I love You Dad & I miss you already.
