Stephen had many accomplishments throughout his life. He served honorably in the United States Army during World War 2. He was awarded the American Campaign Medal. World War 2 Victory Medal and Good Conduct Medal. He is a life-time member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of New York City. Stephen had a love for model trains and jazz music. One of Stephen's favorite pasttimes was spending time with his
grandson attending his in-line skating meets, baseball games, and a few of his football games.
Stephen achieved a Bachelor of Science Degree from Columbia University in New York City. He had a successful career as Clerk of Court in the New York City Foster Care Judicial System.
Stephen married Joyce Marie Vaughn on October 18, 1981. He is preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Dix; sister Portia Dix; mother, Juanita Dix and father, Stephen Handy Dix, Sr.
Stephen leaves to celebrate his life his children, Juanita Vaughn and Albert Conner, Jr.; Kristina M. Vaughn; Raphael Dix; Mable Hartridge-Dix; grandson, John-Stephen H. Vaughn; sister-in-law, Birdie M. Presley and Linda Presley-Beauford. A host of nieces and nephews; Christopher Damon Sams; Christopher De'Undre Sams; D'Andre Owensby; Kenydi Aaron; Chyna Sams; Jennifer Presley-Sanders and Alena E. Presley.
Stephen Handy Dix, Jr. will be laid to rest at the Georgia National Cemetery, Canton, Georgia.
