Robbie was born in Dante, Virginia. in 1933 to John Donald and MaryAnn Robertson. He joined the
U.S. Air Force right after high school graduation in 1950. He was a Korean War veteran and also
served in Vietnam. He also flew many radar missions in Florida before retiring as a Senior
Master Sergeant in 1976. Robbie went on to college to become an accountant and eventually
retired from his second career.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years Kathleen (Kit), children Dawn Bennett Tiyoweh, Dawn
DelRocco and son-in-law Tony DelRocco, Thomas D. Robertson, sisters, Anna Root and Lila Rose Burke and grandchildren Michael, Autumn, Jason, and Melissa Bennett, Natalie, Rachel, and Anthony DelRocco, and Krystyn Robertson. He also has several great grandchildren, a niece, her children and grandchildren, as well as many dear friends.
He was predeceased by his parents, John D. and MaryAnn Robertson, stepmother, Ruby Lee
Robertson (who was like a mother to him) and brother, Robert D. Robertson.
After his second retirement Robbie really enjoyed golfing, poker, and gardening, along with
watching western movies. His favorite times were spent with family, children, and
grandchildren. He spent Sunday at church and having lunch with friends. As a true patriot, he
proudly flew the flag at his home. Those who knew him encountered a man of honesty and
integrity, as well as love and kindness. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
