Roosevelt Thomas, known as The Peanut Man, 89, of Daytona Beach, FL, formerly of Monticello, FL, went to meet Jesus on July 23, 2020. He was born on December 9, 1930 to Ardley Thomas, Jr., and Lucinda Roberts Thomas.
Roosevelt is a veteran of the United States Army and was Honorably Discharged in April 1963. He was a chef/cook that loved to feed people. Most importantly, he accepted Christ at a young age at New Bethel AME Church in Monticello.
In Heaven, Roosevelt was reunited with his parents and siblings, Luther, Ola, Willie, Lillian, and Cleveland, and great-grandchild, Jeremiah.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 59 years, Irene Thomas; devoted children, Evanger Cunningham (husband, Joseph), Alfred Thomas (wife, Florida), and Bettye Gail Samuel (husband, Brian); brothers, Elvin Thomas, and John Thomas (wife, Annie); brothers-in-law, Johnnie Shepard (wife, Valeria), Russell Shepard (wife, Loretta), and Emmett Shepard (wife, Carol); sisters-in-law, Endia Thomas, and Edna Shepard; grandchildren, Gerald Cunningham, Alfred Thomas Jr., Maurice Nedd (wife, Nakita), Kenneth Thomas (wife, LaQuinta), Marquis Nedd (wife, Susanna), Octavia Thomas, Dennis King, Jr. (wife, LaKeisha), Frederica Wilson, Shivajio Samuel, Zya Samuel and Latasha Vilomar; great-grandchildren, Travelle, Elijah, Alshawn, Maurice II, Amiya, Major, Rochelle, Kenneth Jr., Faith, Kendra Kristina, Quentin, Assad, Ahmad, Jabari, Dennis III, Dennis IV, Dennis V, Zara, Logan, Z’Nya, and Jake; great-great-grandchildren, Isaiah, Zion, Genesis, and Travelle Jr.; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends who will miss him dearly.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Roosevelt’s name to Morning Star Baptist Church through their Cash App. Enter Morning Star.
A Wake will be Friday, July 31, 2020 from 5pm to 8pm at Volusia Memorial Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Service will be livestreamed through Volusia Memorial Funeral Home's Facebook page on Saturday, August 1, 2020 at 11am.
