Cherished father of Robert, Jay (Suzanne) and Phillip ( Kathleen). Adored grandfather to Connor, Tia, Jack, Serena and Lauren. Born in Montreal, Bob was the son of Robert B. Lafave and Adelina Richardson. Pre-deceased by brothers Jack, Peter, Richard and Phillip. Survived by loving sister Elaine and brother Dru. He will be fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
Bob was a larger than life presence. A kind, gentle soul who made you feel special. Known by many nicknames; "Big Bob” and “Le Roi du Nord” to name a few…Bob was admired for his big heart, generosity and sense of humour. He loved to tell stories and have a good laugh. Two of his greatest gifts were his commitment and devotion to his family. He was a source of constant encouragement and support to his much-adored sons and grandkids and they, in turn, were a constant source of joy and pride for him. He cherished any time spent near or in the water. Whether at Lac Marois or oceanside in Florida. Bob had a successful business career that spanned several decades. He began working at W.J. Lafave & Sons at the young age of 16 and took over soon after from his father until the sale of the company in 1996. He was a strong supporter of Loyola High School and a member of the Ed Meagher Sports Tournament Committee, which he chaired for several years. Although we are extremely sad to lose such a wonderful person, we take some solace that he is now reunited with his true love Joyce for all eternity.
Sincere gratitude to Dr. John Rowen, Dr. Segal, all the staff and nurses at St. Mary’s Hospital. Special mention to Manuella, Val, Dr. Elena Neamt, his nurses and all the amazing people at the West Island Palliative Care Residence for their kindness, care and compassion. Bob briefly volunteered at the residence and after his first shift came home and said that “ANGELS” worked there…They certainly do!
