On November 28, 1939, in Water Valley, Mississippi, Mr. Willie Benson was born to the late Edward and Sylvia Adams Benson. He accepted Christ as his personal Savior at an early age at New Spring Hill Baptist Church in Senatobia, Mississippi.
Mr. Benson was the fourth of seven siblings and was preceded in death by five of his siblings, Bobby Henderson, Wallace Henderson, Lawrence Benson, J. D. Benson, and Veter Ree Draper Armstrong.
In 1961, he moved to DeSoto County and was united in holy matrimony to Josephine Mack Benson. Their union was blessed with six children, and he was preceded in death by his oldest son, Willie Jean. Mr. Willie joined Dean Hill Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as a member of the Usher’s Board, Senior Choir and the Male Chorus until the Lord took him home to Glory.
Mr. Willie was a hard-working man, and the void of his presence has already touched the hearts of many, including his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and brother, as well as many other friends and family members.
Mr. Willie Benson leaves to cherish his memories, his devoted wife of fifty-nine years, Josephine Mack Benson; three sons, James Benson, Freddie (Janet) Benson, and Johnnie (Cynthia) Benson, all of Horn Lake, Mississippi; two daughters, Molly (Ronnie) Geater of Lake Cormorant, Mississippi, and Evelene Benson of Horn Lake, Mississippi; one brother, Herman Benson of Senatobia, Mississippi; two sisters-in-law, Cora Lee Mack of Tampa Springs, Florida, and Jo Ada Mack of Memphis, Tennessee; sixteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. Mr. Willie also leaves a dear friend who he met when he first moved to DeSoto County, Mississippi, Ms. Minnie Hobbs of Nesbit, Mississippi, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
