Larry grew up in Fresno. He graduated from Fresno High School in 1961. During jr. high and high school he excelled in Track. Larry set records in the 880 yard relay, 75 and 100 yard dash and also competed in broad jump.
Soon after high school, Larry welcomed a son, Johnny Baucum. In 1980, he welcomed a daughter, Melissa Brown (Baucum).
He went to work for Southern Pacific Railroad and had over 40 years of service before ultimately retiring as a Yardmaster in 2005.
Larry loved the outdoors and animals. He enjoyed his retirement drinking coffee and watching nature in his backyard.
Larry was a friend for life. He was always there for a helping hand and always up for a good discussion over a pot of coffee.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Weldon and Elizabeth Baucum and his son, Johnny Baucum. Larry is survived by his daughter, Melissa Brown and her husband, Daniel Brown; 3 grandchildren Richard Bailey, Andrew Brown and Emily Brown.
Larry was also preceded in death by the love of his life, Mary Wallace. Larry’s wishes were to spend eternity next to his love, whom he missed dearly.
Larry will be missed dearly by his friends, family and countless people whose lives were touched by him.
Sadly missed along life’s way, quietly remembered every day….no longer in our life to share, but in our hearts, you will always be there.
