Velma was born on Sunday, November 24, 1929 in Ray, Arizona, to John and Lillian Hawk. Velma met
the love of her life, George Lacey and they married on February 08, 1945, in Globe, Arizona. Velma and
George raised seven beautiful children; Carol, Johnny, George “Jinx”, Dianne, Timothy, Cheryl and
Allen. Velma worked very hard to raise her family and keep them together as they branched off and
had families of their own. She was employed as a Nursing Assistant, a passion she was devoted to for
forty-two years. She was dedicated to all she endeavored to do, and took great pride in her family and
career.
Velma had many joys in life. She loved to visit her Grandchildren (to include many Great and Great-
Great Grandchildren) as often as possible. She kept the family connected by staying informed and
informing. In many ways, she was her family’s lifeline to one another. She also enjoyed travel,
attending church, and shopping. She had a beautiful smile and a wonderful laugh, we all wish we could
enjoy those wonderful attributes, just one more time.
Velma was proceeded in death by her dearly loved husband George (pictured top left with Velma), her
wonderful parents John and Lillian Hawk (pictured left lower), her cherished son George “Jinx”
(pictured left center), her treasured sister Maxine, and many more much-loved extended family
members and friends. The funeral service for Velma is limited to her children, due to the recent viral
health concerns. The service however, will be live-streamed and video recorded. It will be made
available to all family and friends.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in
