Born in Scott County, Kentucky, February 10, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Clemert and Dora Noel McFarland and was youngest of 13 children. Norman and Doris were married on January 26, 1951 at North Seventh St Church of Christ. Doris was less than a year old when her mom passed away. An older sister Pearl stepped in to raise her. They moved to Hamilton Ohio in the mid 1930's. Doris referred to Pearl as mother and we kids all called her Grandma Jones. They brought with them a rich Kentucky wholesome wit and spirit but did not bring the chickens and the hogs. After Graduating Hamilton High School in 1942, she went to machine shop school and then got a job at Wright Aeronautical in Evendale. Next, she served in the US naval reserve as a pharmacists mate second-class 1944 to 1946. After her military service, she became a dental assistant for Dr. Roll in Hamilton Ohio, working there throughout the 50' into the 60's. In the late 60's she started a Fuller Brush sales business and next became the bookkeeper for Dixie Music Co. Other than family, her most fulfilling activity was participating in church functions at the West Side Church of Christ. In later years, she liked playing living room beach ball and her favorite hobby was napping. In summary she helped found GE, ended the war, put a smile on everyone’s face, made every home clean and shiny, kept the music playing, while on Sunday at church found time for praying.
