My favorite story about Aunt Miriam is when Uncle Franny was racing his car in reverse with her in the passenger's seat. She was always kind and was a pillar in our family.

I am sad Aunt Miriam  is no longer with us. I am sure she is having a beautiful reunion with loved ones on the other side.

I am so sad to hear of the passing of Aunt Miriam. I remember our driving trips to Baltimore from Minnesota to visit Uncle Tony, Aunt Miriam, and all the kids! Many wonderful, loving memories. Aunt Miriam was spunky, kind, and will always have a special place in my heart.  My sympathy and prayers to all my cousins and their families.

I was another of the gang of friends at Washington College and since then.  A few of the memories that come to mind:  Miriam driving us to the deserted Tolchester Beach where we climbed the dilapidated wooden roller-coaster; a white-knuckle ride in frozen mist back from a Christmas get-together north of Baltimore; walking around the college campus on the 50th anniversary  celebration of our graduation and having Mirium identify every tree, bush, and flower on the campus.  As a master gardener, she had planted many of them herself and many others had been planted on her recommendation.  There was the time that I attended my first meeting of a local gardening club and was surprised to find Miriam as the featured speaker.  Finally, I will forever be beholden to Miriam because I met my husband at her wedding.  To Zach -- my condolences to you.  It was so nice to meet you at one of our gang's crabfeasts a few years ago.


I’m so shocked and sorry to read about Miriam.
We were friends throughout four years at Washington College.
One summer she got me a job at the Rigbie Hotel.  We had a fun time working there together and making many memories.
My sincere condolences to her family.

What a shock!  Miriam was a member of the class of 1962  who graduated from  Washington College in Chestertown, Maryland.  She was so proud of the Betterton Hotel and her Betterton heritage.  She loved her family , especially her brother Franny, the Coast Guard , and commuting!  She so enjoyed teaching and working with herbs and the Howard County Fair.  Her passion for photography and cameras was always  changing .  Of late, she loved her special Volvo, her puppy  Teddy, and was so proud of her grandson Zach and his career path.  Besides that, she could pick a mean crab!!  She will be sorely missed by her W,C. Crab feast buddies!  Rest In Peace ,  my friend.

Miriam graduated from Washington College and I had the pleasure of getting to know her there, along with the rest of our 'crowd'.  She was an important, tho quiet, part of our lives over the years.  She occasionally joined us for steamed crabs in Cordova-- see pic.  She was a master gardener and loved her family... she could talk for hours about them.  We were shocked to hear of her death and will miss her.  Miriam, rest in peace.
