My grandfather was probably the nicest guy you would’ve met. He was funny and smart and kind but most of all, he was poppy. I loved his jokes I loved his games, you just had to love him. He was the best brother, husband, dad, and granddad. I think when someone dies, we never lose them. So ever time you hear a joke, a ping pong challenge, 1:00 geese,  know that poppy is here, with us. You just have to have faith. He is here with us right now.

I will never forget when we had a rally going and you would yell out those immortal words " Ducks on a Pond!" Socks on a Rooster!" Our games were always better, win or lose, when you were there my friend!

So many happy memories with our children. I’ll always remember our visits with deep fondness. Our hearts are with you at this difficult time.

Words fail to express the sadness we feel by the loss of Uncle Bill, but at the same time we are happy that he’s no longer uncomfortable and in pain. We remember him as always being so warm, caring, and full of joy.  He would do anything for those he loved, and his great attitude, sense of humor, and happiness were contagious.  There are so many great memories we have with Uncle Bill during several family reunions, the donkey that was delivered to our house when we were young, the David Letterman cameraman interviews one year when he came to visit, etc.  Please know that we wish we could be there with the Asparro family, and we are praying for your peace and comfort during this difficult time. Bill impressed me as a man who smiled easily and worked hard to fulfill his many lifelong dreams. His love of family, home and garden were top of list.  Baseball dreams, cool cars, boats, good food and family entertainment followed close behind. His dreams were contagious and we were all lucky to be a part of them. He did it his way...and it was always with style. 

Asparro family, you have my deepest condolences and prayers. Bill was such an amazing man.  He was always smiling and had so much love for everyone.  From the moment I met you all, I instantly felt like I had gained an extended family.  Bill had such a warm and kind spirit.  You could always feel his joy.  I am honored to have known him.  He leaves behind a wonderful and loving family that is his legacy.  Thank you for the love and memories, Bill.

We are so saddened by the passing of Uncle Bill. There have been so many great memories of vacations and holidays spent with your family and how Uncle Bill always brought love and laughter to those occasions. From the DisneyWorld RV trip to the Bear Mountain Christmas tradition to Easters at Captain Bills and so many other great moments of fun, joy, love, and family, we will forever treasure the memory of Uncle Bill.

"Batter up" Bill, we had great times playing baseball in and after high school! You pitched, and man could you pitch! I played 3rd base and how we would make jokes between us when I would return the ball back to you from 3rd base. I watched you start your glass business, and man did it grow. But I know it grew and was successful because of your personality and hard work.
You will be in everyone's heart forever. 

So many Wonderful memories from when we were kids -And we went cross country with Mom and Dad when we youngsters living  in Queens  - to point lookout beach house in the summer - all the great memories at the beach! As we got older in our teens, your baseball and cars then getting married and fun times with you and Dee. Then you and your beautiful children so glad we all hung out and then the wonderful trip to Italy and even right up to the pandemic  - it has been a beautiful journey! You will always be in my heart! A lifetime of shared memories, each made “memorable” when customized by the injection of Bill. Double-dating in fast cars; Bear Mountain Christmas caroling, skating and dancing;  Captain Bill’ s Easter competition for craziest centerpiece; and so many shared family holidays topped off with LCR & hilarious grab bag insanity! One of our favorite memories is a gondola ride in Las Vegas. Our Gondolier was renowned for being able to sing any requested Italian song. OF COURSE, Bill had secretly asked another gondolier for the  name of a song that he was sure our gondolier wouldn’t know. As we rode on our gondola, Bill tearfully told our gondolier about an Italian song his mother sang to him as a child and how he would love to hear it once more. “Of course,  of course no problem, I know every Italian song”, said our gondolier confidently. Bill gave him the name of the song . We then watched a look of pompous confidence fade to shock and dismay....and we were crying! You just had to love him!💕

I am so very sorry for your loss, and I wish I could be there in person to offer my condolences. I love you all so much.

When I think of Uncle Bill, I think of that smiling face with a joke ready, a dance move to lay down, and tight hug no matter how old were. He loved his family fiercely which is why I have only wonderful, happy memories of any time I spent with all of you. He is truly missed, but the good memories will always remain close to my heart.

My memories go all the way back to high school.  Many moons ago. Bill and Dorraine fell in love then and the love story just grew more and more. We couldn't ask for a better "brother". Bill was always there for us, opened his home and heart to us without hesitation.  His pranks, his smile, his cheerful attitude made us feel special.  And oh what great parties he hosted!  So many wonderful memories! His awesome family is a testimony to the fantastic man he’s been. We love him SO MUCH! 

So many memories - your contagious smile and laugh! You light up every room you enter and your way makes all of us feel welcome and “home” . You gave your all to everyone that has been blessed to know you.  Here’s to you!

My favorite memory of Bill is of a summer night at Claudios in Greenport.  We met Dorraine and Bill, Noreen and Jack for dinner. It was a Saturday night, we had no reservation and the restaurant was really crowded. 

We headed for the bar and Bill went to put our name in for a table. We took a few sips of our drinks and then the announcement came: 'Dr. Asparro, your table for six is ready'. As we were escorted to our premier table, people turned to see who the prestigious doctor was. 

What laughs we had that night and every time we think about it we will laugh again.
