He was born on December 19, 1944 in Hays,KS to Walter and Scholastica (Walters) Leiker. He was reared on a farm north of Walker,KS.
He graduated in 1962 from Victoria Rural High School, Victoria,KS and shortly thereafter entered USAF.
He married Jennifer Van Black Bartlett in July, 1980. She preceded him in death in January, 2015.
A lifetime truck driver for various firms including Wilson Industries of Houston, he never lost his love of driving and was in fact seen leaving his neighborhood on the day of his death. He read extensively of American Western History and continued to keep up with 'horse' news, having once been, along with his wife, a Trail Rider affiliated with The Houston Rodeo.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 6557, in Spring,TX, The Men's Club at church, and The American Legion.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother Roger, and sisters Bernita (an infant) and Lilyota Brungardt. He is survived by brothers Dennis and wife Janet of Suquamish,WA, and Wil and wife Karen of Topeka,KS; sister Nancy Leiker and husband Larry McCoy of Porter,TX; nephews and nieces, grand nephews and nieces, and countless cousins.
He is also survived by his special friends - his buddies - the Brother Knights of Saints Simon and Jude Catholic Church of The Woodlands.
A memorial service will be held at St. Simon and Jude Catholic Church, 26777 Glen Loch Dr., Spring, TX 77381 on August 20, 2020 at 10am.
