Joe was born December 3, 1940 in Chicago, Illinois. He was born to Ernest Glenn and Kathryn Lucille Chapman. At the age of seven he was diagnosed with Perthanes and could not walk. The doctors said he would never walk. His parents moved to Arizona for treatment. Within a few years he was running around with other kids.
Joe was on the track team at Mesa High. At the age of 17, Joe joined the Navy. He enjoyed the travel and adventure. He joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at age 17 as well. After the navy, Joe went to Cosmetology school, where he met his wife Barbara Jean LeBaron. They were married June 22, 1964, had six children, 17 grandchildren, and one great grandchild.
Joe worked as an electrical lineman for SRP for 36 years. He faithfully served in several positions in his ward. Joe had a love for sports, music, movies (especially musicals). He had a sweet tooth, loved watching TV and going to Hale Center Theater.
Joe was survived by his wife Barbara, his children Joseph Barry II (Rocky), Thomas Elam, Timothy Scott, Kristi Dawn, Jeffrey Alan, and Robert Glenn. He was also survived by his 17 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Joe will be missed and remembered by his family and friends.
