His memory will forever be cherished by his wife of 54 years, Evelyn; daughter, Audrey (Dan); son, Brent (Robyn); grandsons, Carson, Chase and Ty; granddaughter, Kassidy; as well as many close extended family and friends. He is also survived by his sister, Renate; brothers, Heinz Gunther and Helmut and their extended families all in Germany. He was predeceased by brother, Ernst and sister, Crystel.
Erich immigrated from Germany in 1959 and considered Canada his home. Erich was a proud and productive member of Local Union 488 for 43 years. A heart of gold stopped beating, working hands at rest.
“There are times in life when we are privileged to cross paths with special people such as was Erich. God blessed him with a big heart and a love for people. He was destined to make a difference in this world. He will forever be remembered in the hearts of those he touched by his words and actions. He was a man of good morals and integrity and could be counted on to lend a helping hand in any situation. We were all blessed to have had him in our lives and he certainly helped make this world a better place. Thank you Lord for a life well lived. Erich made a difference.” – Words from a lovely friend.
Dancing was Erich’s passion. Now he will be dancing among the angels.
Those who loved life and lived it fully teach us the most about death . . . to accept that it comes, to meet it with courage, to believe that such spirit can never be stilled. Erich will be missed beyond measure and remembered always for his love and devotion to family, as was theirs for him.
Cremation has taken place. A private family ceremony will be held.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heartland Community Hospice Foundation, Box 3317, Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta T8L2T3.
The care and support which was offered by Dr. Linda Carter and the home care team was simply immeasurable. We thank you sincerely.
