Billy “Gene” went to high school at Capitol Hill High School in Oklahoma City, OK. Right after high school, he joined the Army and was a US Army & National Guard Master Sergeant from 1945-1956 and is a Korean War Veteran. He attended the University of Oklahoma and graduated from Southern Methodist University with a degree in business administration. In his career, he was a computer systems analyst/programmer and helped program American Airlines’ first computer around 1956. He worked at Varo Systems and Bell Helicopter, where he retired after 20 years.
He was a member of Full Gospel Businessmen's Fellowship and served as Chapter President. He also attended Rockwood Park Assemblies of God and served as a board member. He was in the Civil Patrol, a Royal Rangers troop leader, Haltom City Gun Club member, and Republican Party State Delegate.
He was a voracious reader and continued to take college classes on subjects of interest including animal husbandry at TCC into his 70’s. He loved his family and worked hard to provide the very best he could for them. He was happy anytime he could spend time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He always looked forward to family gatherings, and was available to counsel, minister, or just listen. He loved God, family, and country.
Gene was a tall, stately, refined gentleman who will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

He was a faithful tither and his favorite scripture was second Corinthians 4:8-10…which says…
2 Corinthians 4:8-10 [nkjv]
8 we are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair;
9 persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed—
10 always carrying about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body.
