Luciano was born in San Bartolo Aguas Calientes, Totonicapan, Guatemala on June 30, 1950 to his parents Jorge Perez and Santos Torres.
Luciano immigrated to the United States in 1982 and first came to Houston. Seeing an opportunity for a better lifestyle, he went back and returned with the love of his life, Thelma Velasquez De Perez.
Luciano accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior in Guatemala. This led him to seek a home church in Houston and later became a founding member of Iglesia Cristiana Canaan from 1986 to present.
Luciano became a US Citizen in 1995. He was employed at Randalls for 35 years during which he developed long lasting friendships. His commitment to Randalls taught his children the meaning of loyalty, hard work, and ethics.
Luciano loved going to church, working on his cars, and eating out with his family. He loved to stay busy around the house and would also surprise his kids by fixing anything needed in their own homes, including building a dog house. As busy as he was, he would still find the time to play guitar and play soccer with his son-in-law, children and grandchildren.
Luciano’s grandchildren were his pride and joy, undoubtedly. He loved attending their events at school, daycare, and church. He truly was the foundation of the Perez family.
Luciano is survived by his loving wife, Thelma Velasquez de Perez; daughter Claudia De Los Santos (Jazzahi, husband); son Luciano Javier Perez (Exeldy, wife); son Josue David Perez; son Jorge Perez; daughter Vilma Perez; and his beloved grandchildren, Rozeli, Olivia, Alejandra, Sofia, Gabriela, and Johnathon. He leaves behind his sister Delfina Perez.
Luciano reaffirmed his faith when he was baptized in the Jordan River while visiting Israel in 2017. His family finds great peace and comfort knowing that they will be reunited with him again in Heaven.
Visitation will be on Friday, September 11, 2020 from 2-8 PM. Celebration of life service will be at Iglesia Cristiana Canaan on Saturday, September 12, 2020 at 9 AM-12 PM, followed by burial at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery at 1 PM.
