born in Teocaltiche, Jalisco, Mexico on March 6, 1949 to parents Gregorio and Bernardina (nee
Medina) Gutierrez.
Gregorio grew up being a rancher alongside his brothers in a farm on the outskirts of Teocaltiche,
Jalisco; this would eventually become a passion he would return to, in retirement.
He followed his father, Gregorio Gutierrez, to Kansas City, Missouri at the young age of 21 and
started working with Kansas City Southern Railroad. He met the love of his life, Silvia (nee
Tagle) Gutierrez a few years later and this began their 45 year love story. His love for his family
was his driving motivation. He was a loving father to: Robert Gutierrez, Carmen Gutierrez, and
Gregorio Gutierrez III; and a devoted grandfather to: Julianna Gutierrez, Vanessa Gutierrez and
his newest love, Olivia Diaz. His love and affection for his three grandkids was transcendent and
infinite. Anyone fortunate enough to have seen “Grandpa” in action could see just how
affectionate, patient, and attentive he was with his granddaughters. If you’ve been lucky enough
to meet Olivia, you would know the highlight of her day was going across the street to hang out
with “grandpa”. While these two have been inseparable for her whole life, the love and affection
that Gregorio exuded, extended past his beloved princesses. As his many nieces and nephews
might tell you “Tio Gregorio” would often be seen sitting on his porch with his amazing wife,
Silvia, greeting and catching up with any of his neighboring family members and friends.
Upon retirement he lived out his dream of being a full-time rancher. He would make multiple
trips to Teocaltiche, Jalisco to tend to his newly established farm and when in Kansas City, he
dedicated himself to being a full time Grandpa. Gregorio will be truly missed by all who knew
him.
Gregorio is survived by his beautiful beloved wife Silvia, his children, Robert “Bobby”
Gutierrez, Carmen (Jacinto) Diaz, Gregorio “Goyo” Gutierrez III, his son in law, Jacinto Diaz,
his grandchildren, Julianna Gutierrez, Vanessa Gutierrez and Olivia Diaz, his siblings, Filiberto
(Rosa) Gutierrez, Esperanza (Blas) de Delgadillo, Maria Gutierrez Medina, Herlinda (Ismael) de
Saldaña, Ma. de los Dolores Gutierrez Medina, Ma. Teresa (Fontaine) de Chavez, Humberto
(Ma. Martha) Gutierrez, Enrique (Graciela) Gutierrez, Hector Gutierrez, Alfonso Gutierrez, and
many nieces and nephews.

Haría múltiples viajes a
Humberto (Ma. Martha) Gutiérrez, Enrique (Graciela) Gutiérrez, Héctor Gutiérrez, Alfonso
Gutiérrez, y muchas sobrinas y sobrinos.
