Brenda was born August 7, 1949, in High Point, NC, daughter of the late Isaac and Louise Saulter. She was the youngest of their eight children. After graduating from William Penn High School in 1967, she continued her education through Guilford Technical Institute and High Point University. She received a degree in Early Childhood Education and served for many years in the Guilford County School System, where she also retired.
In addition to her parents, Brenda was preceded in death by three sisters, Sally LeGrande, Ethel Terry and Gladys Venable; two brothers, William "Billy" Saulter, and James "Pete" Saulter.
Following the death of her Sister Gladys, she quickly assumed the role of a big sister to her niece, Valerie and nephews Derrit “Pluto” and Lee Andrey, who also preceded her in death.
Children were Brenda’s delight! She was known as the “child whisperer” because of her ability to work with the most challenging children. She loved to spend time working in her flower gardens and growing beautiful plants. She gained the title of “The Green Thumb Lady” because of her beautiful yard and flower gardens.
Brenda’s granddaughter and great-grandsons were the joy of her life. Following retirement, her life was dedicated to caring for and spoiling them.
She is survived by her three adult children, Nathan (Lisa) Gidderon, Beckita (Donte) Erving, and Dorian Gidderon; two sisters, Kitty (James) Spencer and Beatrice Saulter; granddaughter, Destiny (Daryl) Johnson; and four great grandsons, Jayceon, Kyrie, Daevean, and Dakota. Brenda is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors who she loved and treasured.
Brenda’s family expresses their sincerest appreciation to the nurses of Hospice of the Piedmont and for the thoughts and prayers of family and friends.
Donations in Brenda’s Memory can be sent directly to her adult children.
