He was born in Muskegon, Michigan on December 3, 1946 to the late Robert A. Voss and Carmen Valentine Voss. Donald had a beautiful voice and sang with Cosmopolitan Male Chorus and First Reformed Church.
In 1970, he moved with his wife and children to Miami, Florida where he worked for Eastern Airlines/Continental Airlines for 30 years. He was a member of Kendall Presbyterian Church. Donald was an Elder and member of the Session, where he held many positions.
In 1998, they moved to Birmingham, Alabama and joined Oak Mountain Presbyterian Church where he was active with the men’s bible study and Sunday school. On top of being a singer with Over the Mountain Festival Choir, he was also on the Board of Directors.
Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife of over 54 years, Joan Cooper Voss; daughters, Amy Voss Monahan (Michael) and Ginny Voss Matthews (Alan); seven grandchildren, Riley Monahan; Mitchell Monahan; Mallory Ritter (Chris); Blake Matthews (Sierra); Madelyn Scharbert; Megan Scharbert; Kendall Scharbert; and one great-grandchild. He is also survived by his brothers, Michael Voss of Grand Haven, MI and Greg Voss (Gayle) of Milford, MI, along with many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held at Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, AL on Saturday, September 12, 2020, from 10:00 – 11:00 am with a service beginning at 11:00 am.
