Winona Jane Ramey Barrineau, 87, passed away peacefully at Landon Ridge Senior Living in Sugar Land, Texas on Friday, September 4, 2020. She was born in Kansas City, Kansas on January 29, 1933 to Donald Alvin Ramey, Sr. and Jane Evelyn Elizabeth Bessell Ramey.
She was a graduate of Stephen F. Austin High School, Class of 1951 and worked as a clerk at Nabisco and Harris County, and as a nurse at Methodist Hospital, but her great love was as the proprietor of her antique store. She could make or repair anything and her craftsmanship was second-to-none. Winona’s pride and joy was the Victorian doll house that she built from scratch. She even made the furnishings and included small touches like linens in the drawers and extra wallpaper stored in the attic. She loved spending time with her family and always enjoyed playing games.
Winona is survived by her brother, Don Ramey, Jr., her sons, Richard “Dick” Rogers (Myriam) and William “Greg” Thacker (Judi), her step-son, Allan Barrineau, her step-daughter, Rebecca Chappell, her grandchildren, Jennifer Rogers, Diana Rogers, Christy Monsour (Jackson), Katy Hilgenfeld, Tristan Thacker (Katelynn), Charise Thacker, Sirena Thacker, David Chappell, Alyssa Barrineau, and Reece Barrineau, and her great-grandchildren, Jack Monsour, Joey Potcner, Quinn Monsour, Alieah Castaneda and Brooklyn Thacker. Winona was preceded in death by her husband, George Allan Barrineau, her daughter, Sherri Jane Rogers Hilgenfeld, her son, Wegner Gantt Thacker, and her brother Richard “Ken” Ramey.
The memorial service will be held at Earthman Southwest Funeral Directors, 12555 S. Kirkwood, Stafford, Texas 77477 on Friday, September 18, 2020 at 10:00 am.
