Sharon was born in Cleveland, OH and was adopted from Cleveland Christian Home by her parents George and Elsie Schaaf in 1948. She attended North Olmstead High School Class of 1962 and graduated from Mount Union College with a teaching degree in 1966. Upon marrying Lou, she became a Navy wife and traveled the country to locations from coast to coast. She impacted the lives of many through her volunteering with Girl Scouts, most notably in Shorewood, IL and Bay City, TX and Cub Scouts in Broken Arrow, OK. She served the Bay City and East Ridge, TN communities as a book store owner and shop worker for many years supporting the ongoing love of reading in entire communities. She took great joy in sharing her love of sports, especially the Cleveland Indians and Cleveland Browns and working the gates of Engel and AT&T Stadiums with the Chattanooga Lookouts. She was rediscovered by her birth siblings in the 1980’s and enjoyed the expanded family, surprisingly shared memories of places throughout Ohio and their unconditional love.
With a move to Houston, TX Sharon quickly became involved in volunteer work at Charles W Eliot Elementary helping raise funds for a playground, organizing a uniform store, and counting Box Tops. Sharon loved having visits from her daughter, son and grandkids and spent hours doing hidden object games with them on the computer and talking about sports, especially volleyball and baseball. She was considered an Angel Among Us and will be greatly missed.
