James “Jim” Henry Parsley passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 10, in Sugar Land, Texas. He was born on April 1, 1929 in Conroe, Texas to parents Robert and Dollie (Puckett) Parsley. He was 91 years old and a long-time resident of Missouri City, Texas.
Mr. Parsley was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 59 years, Wilhelmina (Haselden) Parsley, and his sister Ruth Hazel Gates. He is survived by his daughter, Janis Parsley (Georges Mirza); his son Robin Louis Parsley; four grandchildren Caitlyn Snow (Brandon), Callie Deloach (Adrian), Madeline Mirza, and Nicole Horky (Joshua); five great grandchildren: Aria, Leighton, Leo, Lincoln, and Mila and several nephews and cousins.
Jim is a 1950 graduate of Texas A&M University and received a BS in Geophysics. He spent his career working along the Gulf Coast in the oil and gas industry, and he finished his career as a real estate broker.
He was a veteran of the Korean War, having served as a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army for two years after graduation from college. He met his wife while based at Fort Benning prior to serving in Germany for nine months as a tank commander.
Jim was an avid wildlife hunter and fisherman and especially enjoyed deer and big game hunting in Texas and Colorado. He also loved following U.S. politics and watching college football—especially the Texas Aggies.
Due to Covid-10 restrictions, a graveside service and interment will be held at Cude Cemetery in Willis, Texas, on Friday, September 25, 2020 at 10:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the American Heart Association or American Diabetes Association.
