Phyllis Porter Jones passed away peacefully at home on September 11, 2020, at the age of 92. Phyllis was born in Dallas, Texas, to James W. Porter and Aline K. Porter on September 22, 1927. She graduated from Highland Park High School and attended Columbia College in Missouri. Phyllis transferred to SMU, where she pledged Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority and graduated with a degree in Home Economics. After a wonderful summer abroad with her girlfriends, she married the love of her life, Jack W. Jones. They enjoyed 52 incredible years together before he passed away. Her first job was with Dallas Power and Light demonstrating how to operate home appliances at the Texas State Fair. She was a member of the Junior League of Dallas, The Dallas Garden Club, The Dallas Woman's Club, The Sewing Club (her favorite), The Gambado Club, Brookhollow Golf Club and Highland Park Presbyterian Church. Mom was an amazing Wife, Mother, Sister, Aunt, Grandmom, and the best job ever was Gigi to her seven great-grandchildren. A faithful follower of Christ and steadfast prayer warrior, Mom taught us how to lead our lives with grace and dignity. She had a fantastic sense of humor and often had us in stitches with her one liners. She loved to travel and often took her children with her to various mountain and beach vacations, never missing an opportunity to make memories with those she loved. She was happiest when surrounded by her family. She is preceded in death by James W. Porter (Father), Aline K. Porter (Mother), Jack W. Jones (Husband), Edward A. O'Kelly (Grandson), Audrey Jane Allbritton (Great Granddaughter). She is survived by her brother, Buddy Porter (Patsy); children: Stuart Jones (Holly Zimmerman), Martha Hooper (Dan), Cynthia O'Kelly (Nick); Grandchildren: Jack Hooper (Brittany), Kate Allbritton (Luke), Julia O'Kelly, Jack O'Kelly, Brendan O'Kelly, and Martha Robinson (Bill). She cherished time with her great-grandchildren and was a beloved Gigi to all. We would like to thank her remarkable caregivers (Liz, Janice, Carolyn and Carla) and a special thanks to Octavia Hicks, who provided Mom with over 30 years of friendship. Due to the current situation there will be a private family service to celebrate her life. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Autism Speaks, 1060 State Road, 2nd Floor, Princeton NJ 08540 or online at www.autismspeaks.org.
