McDaniel, USAF and his English wife, Margaret (Linda) Maud (née Robinson). Marty was the
second surviving child of Billy and Linda as they went on to have five sons. Marty passed away
on September 11, 2020, leaving behind his fiancé, Beverly Adkins, and his beloved adult children,
Dawn McDaniel, MD (36), Robin McDaniel, BSN (34), and Corporal Christian McDaniel USMC (23).
He also has two surviving brothers, Peter (60) and William (48), and six grandchildren, Isaac and
Isaiah McDaniel and Ammanuel, Elleni, Israel, and Elias Petros.
Martin grew up the son of an active duty American Airman, Billy McDaniel, and lived the nomadic
childhood of a military brat. A smart child, he grew up attending schools in England, North
Dakota, Texas, Guam, and Tennessee before returning to finish high school in England when his
father moved the family there upon his retirement from the Air Force. A lifelong love affair with
music began with his early interest in playing the guitar, picking up the instrument like his older
brother, Steven McDaniel. Both brothers were renowned for their musical skills wherever they
went. In 1978, after the tragic early deaths of his parents, Marty returned to Carthage, Texas,
where he briefly lived with his grandparents, Herman V. And Ethel Gertrude McDaniel before
branching out on his own.
He worked in the oilfields of East Texas, and married, but his life’s passion was always his
children. He loved his daughters Dawn and Robin McDaniel dearly, and found his family complete
after the birth of his treasured son, Christian McDaniel.
His love for making music permeated throughout his home and all of his relationships. He
played guitar and sang at family reunions, church, the Country Music Hayride in Carthage, and
ultimately for anyone who would lend an ear. He was multitalented, a true jack of all trades, quick
to just about everything. Proud of his self-sufficiency, he was intelligent and witty. Marty loved to
laugh and joke, especially if he could do so with a guitar in his hands.
He worked hard at everything he did, and his focus was always to provide for his family. His time
and personal needs were always secondary to those of his children. He intended his sacrifice
to be a token of love to them, and he was monumentally proud of their accomplishments.
Preceded in death by his younger brother Lionel in 1987, and his older brother Steve in 2014,
Marty was recently stricken by a degenerative neuromuscular disease that stole even his ability
to play his beloved guitar. In his last days, he was cared for lovingly by his fiancé, Beverly Adkins
and his daughter, Robin McDaniel. Martin left the confines of his earthly body for heaven on
September 11, 2020. He surely ran into the arms of our Savior Jesus Christ and is even now
playing his guitar in unabashed worship to the Father in his new heavenly home.
Arrangements are under the direction of Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Directors, Nacogdoches.
