It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Yum Jean Lee, our loving and devoted Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Aunt, and Friend.
She left us peacefully, embraced with love from us all on September 9, 2020. She was in her 83rd year.
She was born in a rural village (now Kaiping) in Guangdong, China. She married her husband, Wilson G.K. Lee (predeceased 1992) in 1956 in Hong Kong.
They immigrated to Canada in 1957 to begin their new life. They settled in Edmonton, AB, and made their start in the grocery industry. In time, Jean turned to the restaurant industry, where she earned many employment achievement awards. She was recognized by many for her dedication.
She lived a full life and had many passions, and approached them with her usual dedication and energy, be it Church activities, her “Draws”, her business dealings, or her work.
But above all, her greatest and deepest passion was her family. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother. All that she accomplished in life was for the betterment of her family. She was a person you could count on.
She was the Wife of Wilson G.K. Lee (predeceased 1992), Mother to Margaret Herba, Robert Lee (Julie), Gary Lee (Donna), Grandmother to Kyle Herba, Alex Herba (Karen), Jessica Lee, Kaitlyn Lee, and Great Grandmother to Mila Herba and Ethan Herba.
She was the daughter of Ka Tong and You (Tse) Chow (parents), Sister to Edward Fuey Joe, Julie Wong, and Ina Jay.
We will miss her deeply, but her values and lessons will not be forgotten.
