Lifetime Craig resident, Vivian Murray died peacefully on Sunday, Sept. 13, 2020, at her home in Craig. She was 76. A celebration of Vivian’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, October 3, 2020, at Craig Christian Church Vivian Vernice Van Tassel was born the daughter of Earl and Florence (Prather) Van Tassel on September 22, 1943 in Craig. She spent her childhood, attended public schools and graduated from Moffat County High with the class of 1961. Vivian married Jerry Bruce and the couple welcomed two daughters. After several years their marriage ended in divorce. She later married Loren Murray in July of 1994. They celebrated several years of marriage before Loren passed away. Vivian found work at Mountain Bell Telephone Company and held several positions throughout her 35 years of employment there. In her spare time, Vivian enjoyed playing pool, darts and going bowling. She also loved to go fishing and hunting. Above all, she was a devoted wife and loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Vivian is survived by her two daughters, Debbie (Dan) Coakley of Sterling and Kaby (Bruce) Rogers of Craig; one brother, Gary (Valerie) Van Tassel of Craig; and two sisters, Gaye (Brian) Schnackenberg of Craig and Verla (Alan) Rossi of Kinta, OK. She is further survived by 3 grandchildren: Justin (Danielle) Coakley, Jessica (Trent) Kaufman and April Rogers; and six great-grandchildren. Vivian was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and a baby sister, Vickie Van Tassel. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial contributions be made in Vivian’s memory to a charity of your choice in care of Grant Mortuary.
