She was a 1964 graduate of Jacksonville High School, Jacksonville, North Carolina and a 1967 graduate of Mercy School of Nursing, Charlotte, North Carolina. She loved being a nurse and spent the bulk of career working with children with special needs at Richland School District One. She also spent over 20 years working part-time as a home health care nurse. Over 50 years of her life were spent as a licensed and practicing registered nurse, a feat she was enormously proud to accomplish.
Mary was a strong advocate for her students and was honored for her hard work and dedication in 2009 by Mayor Bob Coble when he declared May 12th to be “Mary Wooldridge Day” in the City of Columbia.
Well-known for her colorful personality, Mary will be remembered for her zest for life, her love of all things pink, her compassionate nursing care, and the love of her family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her children Mark Wooldridge of Columbia, South Carolina and Susan Yeatts of Lexington, South Carolina, her three grandchildren Mary Morgan, Thomas, and Ellie Yeatts all of Lexington, her sister Karen Ehrisman of St. Augustine, Florida, and her nephew Richard Zasada of Burnsville, Minnesota.
A memorial will be held at a later date, when it is safer to gather. To receive more information when details for this memorial are available, please send your contact information via email to [email protected] or by mail to Susan Yeatts, 368 Presque Isle Rd., Lexington, SC 29072.
