Ross graduated from Scappoose High School in 1949. Ross married Carol Elaine Wise on April 14, 1949 at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Portland, OR. He then signed up with the Marine Corp Reserve and was called to active duty at the age of 18, in 1950. Ross served during the Korean War and upon his return back home he was promoted to Sargent with the US Marine Corp. He left the Marine Corp in 1953.
Shortly after leaving the Marine Corp he began working for Reynolds Metals Company and worked there for 40 years, working his way up to Transportation Manager.
After Retirement, Ross attended Apollo College where he earned his Pharmacy Tech degree.
Ross was a Christian. He was a member of the Multnomah Elks Club. He enjoyed sailing and golfing. He appreciated music and could fix almost anything. Ross also served as an Honor Guard for Willamette National Cemetery, in Portland, Oregon for a short time.
Ross was preceded in death by his sister Hazel and his grandson Kyle.
Survivors include his loving wife Elaine, son Michael Ross (Lori) Kirkwood, daughter Rachelle Rae Abrahamsz, daughter Kristi Marie (Mark) Gonzalez, son Robert Arthur (Cyndy) Kirkwood, sister Elaine and brother Walt, plus his grandchildren, Scott, Nathan, Brindel, Nolan, Chelsea, Jami, Alexi, Benjamin, Cassidy, Elizabeth and Brittany, plus his 8 great-grandchildren.
A PRIVATE Funeral service will be on Saturday, September 19, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at Bateman Carroll Funeral Home located at 520 W. Powell Blvd. in Gresham, Oregon.
Private burial will be at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Oregon.
