Thomas Stephen Kirk, age 88, of Pensacola, Florida passed away on Tuesday, September 22, 2020. Thomas was born April 30, 1932, in Salisbury, North Carolina. He moved to Pensacola, Florida, in September of 1970, from Long Beach, California.
Known in his neighborhood as "Mr. Fix It," Thomas, retired from the U.S. Navy in 1972, after 20 years of service. He was employed in civil service in 1993, where he remained for 20 years. Thomas was a member of Warrington Methodist Church and was also an active member of the NMCRS, American Legion, FRA, AFGE, VFW and DAV.
Thomas is preceded in death by his parents, Charles Franklin Kirk and Lena Beatrice Kirk; his brother, Charles Franklin Kirk Jr.; and his two sisters, Mary Frances Kirk and Jaqueline Stearnes Kirk.
Thomas is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mattie Ogie Kirk; son Donald Kirk (Rebecca Carter); grandkids Chad Kirk and Stephanie Kirk; three great grandkids Brianna, Serenity and Ellie.
A visitation for Thomas will be from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm on Wednesday, September 30, 2020 at Oak Lawn Funeral Home, 619 New Warrington Road, Pensacola, FL 32506. Funeral service will be the following day at 12:00 pm, Thursday, October 1, 2020 at Oak Lawn Funeral Home. Burial will immediately follow at Barrancas National Cemetery, 1 Cemetery Road, Pensacola, FL 32508 with military honors.
