Thomas Randall Warwick was born on March 4, 1951 in Burnet, Texas, the third of 4 children of Thomas and Lillian (Mills) Warwick. After several moves, the family returned to Burnet when Randall was in third grade. Randall graduated from Burnet High School in 1969. After a brief time in Houston he moved to Austin and began his career as a computer operator at the State of Texas. Tom (the name he preferred as an adult) continued his career at Levi Strauss in Little Rock, Arkansas, in Austin with Teacher Retirement System, at Southwest Texas State, at Motorola, later Continental, in Seguin. While at SWT, Tom earned his degree in Geography.
Tom enjoyed traveling, tinkering with computers, and animals. One of Tom’s favorite trips was to New York with Viva, Tommy, and Anissa. Tom traveled to Washington State for meetings of the TV show “Northern Exposure” fan club.
Tom was kind to everyone and generous to all, never expecting to be repaid. He never met a stray dog or cat that didn’t follow him home.
Tom also had a lifelong love of cars. Several years after his first surgery, Tom found a Chrysler Crossfire for sale, flew to Michigan to purchase and drive it home.
Tom began his battle with brain cancer in 2008. After surgery, Tom returned to Seguin for a while, later moving to Burnet to be closer to family. Tom far exceeded his doctor’s expectations by keeping cancer at bay for 10 years, until the tumor began growing again in 2019. After the second surgery, Tom recovered well until the cancer finally won the battle on 9/19/2020.
Tom’s family would like to thank the staff at Seton Williamson County (nurses Lisa, Lucy, Azaret, and especially Heather, and Dr. Babbar) and Christopher House (nurses Michelle, Teddy, Lori and Belinda) for excellent care, kindness and compassion during his final days.
Tom is survived by sisters Viva Whittington and Alene Reagor, of Burnet and brother Curtis (Claire) Warwick of Georgetown. He is also survived by nephews Tommy Reagor (Anissa), David Reagor (SyLinda), Steven Reagor (Rachael), Michael Reagor (Kate), Brett Warwick (BethAnn), and Jacy Warwick. Tom is also survived by Aunts Adene Estepp and Nelma Scoggins. Tom was preceded in death by his parents Thomas and Lillian Warwick, his brothers-in-law Verlon Reagor and Hubert (Whit) Whittington.
There will be a private family service at Oatmeal Cemetery.
