Lynette Susan Burns, beloved wife and mother, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at her home in Halifax, Nova Scotia, on October 2nd , 2020 at the age of 71. Born in Miramichi, New Brunswick, she was the daughter of the late Jack and Irene (Matchett) Bowie, and widow of Brian S. Burns.
Lynn attended nursing school in Moncton, New Brunswick and obtained her Registered Nursing Assistant designation on October 31st , 1967. Her selflessness and compassion not only made her a wonderful mother and aunt, but a caring nurse for over 30 years.
She met her husband, Brian, in Bagotville, Quebec, they married years later at St. Mary’s Basilica in Halifax, NS. Together with family and friends, they built their home in Williamswood, NS, where they resided until his passing in 2003. They reunited in love on his birthday.
For Lynn, every holiday was a time for gift giving and celebration, but she never needed a reason to gift someone a memento. She loved to listen to her talented family play and join in with a song, and always made sure there was something delicious to eat. Lynn’s infectious kindness brought her many meaningful friendships across Canada and later the world when she travelled to Cape Town, S.A., for her daughter’s graduation.
Many friends and family visited her throughout her illness which brought her joy. She always loved chatting over a good coffee and going with her sister-in-law, Doreen, to their local coffee group.
Lynn was never happier than when she was spending time with her grandchildren. She took pride in their every joyful moment and accomplishment. To her they were the smartest, cutest, most talented people.
Lynn loved her family pets, and in recent years you could find her constant companion, Safi, curled nearby while she slept.
She is survived by her three children: Barbra (Steve), Dianna (Gabriella), Stephen (Jessica); her four grandchildren: Sebastien, Bazyl, Meelah and Colton; and, her siblings and in-laws: Kevin and Doreen, Chuck and Lois, Jackie, Bill and Shirley, Dorothea and Lee, Dexter, Terry and Wayne, Carl and Marina, Helen and Hunter, and nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She is predeceased by her brother Sandy, sister Debby, sister-in-law Judy and brother-in-law Art.
