Peacefully, at her home with her family at her side on Monday, October 5, 2020 in her 81st year. Margaret, beloved wife of the late Ernst Winkler. Loving mother of Christine Spencer (husband John), Norman (Heather Scott), and Robert (wife Andrea). Loving Oma of Kylie Anderson, Eric Spencer, Charlotte Winkler, Emily Winkler, Heidi Anderson, Samantha Spencer and Willson Scott. Predeceased by her parents Ernst Mueller and Luise Mueller (nee-Schrofel). She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by many nephews, nieces, cousins, in-laws, neighbors and friends, in Canada, Germany and Austria.
Mom was a loving, talented, hard-working, kind and self-less woman. She had a beautiful and comforting soul and always made everyone around her feel loved, special and valued. She had boundless energy and was always busy trying new recipes, cooking and baking for family and friends, sewing or knitting something new and helping out whenever, wherever and whomever she could. She was an amazing person. She was an amazing Mom and Oma. She was and will always be our guiding light and Hero.
Mom came to Canada from Aussig Germany (now part of Czechoslovakia) at the age of 10 and lived and worked in Toronto where she met Ernst, the “love of her life”. They married in 1961 and had three children. Margaret and Ernst built a cottage (home) in The Glen on Pigeon Lake in the 1970’s and then moved there permanently in 1981. The Glen was Mom and Dad’s “Happy Place”. They loved living on the lake and spending time with their many great friends and neighbours over the past 38 years. The Tea Ladies were also a very special part of Mom’s life, as were the many close friends and neighbours that always made sure that Mom was doing well on her own after Dad passed away in 2007.
Cody, the family dog, was also with Mom during the time after Dad’s passing, and was a wonderful companion and friend for her while she lived on her own at the lake.
There are no words to describe our tremendous loss as a family and community and she will be missed every day. We have great comfort in knowing that she is now at peace and with her “true love”, Ernst our Pappa. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Ronald McDonald House Charity would be appreciated by the family.
