A lifelong Coloradan born near Brighton, she was known and loved for her memorable laugh, expertise at games and sports, and willingness to participate – even in her later years – in, among other things, whiffle-ball, dance contests, and Snapchat at the urging of family members.
She graduated from Longmont High School in 1942. She married Donald Cameron on April 8, 1945, and the couple had four children. During her long residence in Longmont, she worked as a bookkeeper for Gambles and also performed for many years in the Wesleyanns singing group through the Longmont United Methodist Church.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Frances Anne (Sherratt) Parker, husband Donald Cameron, son Robert Cameron, infant son Sean Cameron, sister Olive Atherton, sister Lois Mock, and brother Charles Parker.
She is survived by her son Gerald (wife Bonnie) Cameron of Lilburn, Georgia, and daughter Sherrie Piburn (husband Gregg) of Loveland, and two sisters (Dona Atherton of Loveland and Leona Miller of Longmont). She also had a special relationship with her eight surviving grandchildren: Robin McGechie, Kirk Cameron, Melissa Sattler, Corlet Boelman, Alyse Piburn, Bret Piburn, Amanda Sparacio, and Cam Cameron. In addition, there are 10 surviving great-grandchildren.
Cremation has occurred and a private memorial for family members will be scheduled for a later date.
