Stephen Greer Parsons, 91, of Birmingham, Alabama, passed away Sunday, October 11, 2020. He was born in Birmingham on May 23, 1929. Although he lived most of his life in Birmingham, he graduated in 1948 from Fort Myers High School in Florida. He attended Auburn University while pursuing a degree in business, and then joined the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He served in England and Germany for 4 years.
After returning home, Greer met his wife, Audrey Yvonne Wray, and they were married in 1957 at Hunter Street Baptist Church. They were married for 43 year years and enjoyed most of their married years living in Hoover where they raised their three daughters. Greer was a bookkeeper, postal worker, and later a school bus driver. He spent many years as a hard working man but is also known for being an amazing husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. When Greer was not working, he spent his time at the lake with his family or cheering on his Auburn Tigers. He and Yvonne were active members at Oakmont Methodist Church and later Hunter Street Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by parents Inez Garrison and Henry Blaine; and wife Yvonne (1999).
He is survived by his daughters Lee Parsons Byham (Jay), Lynn Parsons Comstock (Keith), and Audrey Parsons Graham (Tony); grandchildren Jim Byham (Jackie), Jonathan Byham (Jennifer), Courtney Bell Tant (Joe), Ashleigh Graham, and Andrew Comstock; and great-grandchildren Collins Byham and Blaine Byham.
