Ruth Edith Sheldon, 96 wife of the late Seward W. Sheldon passed away unexpectedly at Greentree Manor, Waterford, Sunday night. Ruth was born in Proctor Vermont to the late William and Edith (Carlson) Blaise. Ruth graduated from Rutland Business College and worked various jobs. She had worked at the Vermont Marble Co., and was also a plane spotter during WWII. In her later years she worked as an occupational therapist at the Norwich State Hospital. In her spare time she loved gardening and reading. She was an excellent seamstress; making clothes and selling some of her craft handiwork. On October 26, 1946, Ruth and Seward eloped to Whitehall, New York accompanied by two friends as witnesses. They were married for 51 years. Ruth is survived by two sons, David W. Sheldon of Norwich, and Michael W. Sheldon of Grass Valley Ca.; one daughter Meridy Lynn Sheldon of Norwich, and also several nieces and nephews. Ruth was a great Mom and friend. She will be sorely missed. Funeral Services and burial will be private.
