Born in 1928, in LeBeau, Louisiana, he is the son of the late Issac and Blanche Alpough. He was the eldest of seven siblings. Of the siblings, he is survived by his brother Peter Alpough.
Joseph served in the United States Army beginning in 1953 and ultimately achieved the rank of Corporal. After his honorable discharge, he was employed at Kap-Pel Fabrics. He maintained a career there for 48 years until he entered retirement.
Joseph was a devout Catholic. His passion for serving his church started at the age of eight when he began serving as an altar boy. This passion continued throughout his life. He served as an usher at St. Therese Little Flower Catholic Church as an adult. He was happy to make the morning coffee and greeting everyone with a smile.
Joseph never knew a stranger and was a friend to everyone he met. He demonstrated the love of Jesus through his daily life. He worked in the food pantry and helped his community in numerous ways, such as collecting cans, newspaper, and prescription bottles to assist others that were in need. He was an avid supporter of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, the Veterans, and many Catholic Charities.
Joseph had an unmatchable spark for life. He was caring, funny, encouraging, and loving. Joseph was a dedicated family man who was always there to help those he loved. Joseph was an enthusiastic fan of the Kansas City Royals. He enjoyed Zydeco music, fishing, thrifting, and spending time with his family and friends.
Joseph is survived by his wife Katharine Alpough. He is survived by their five children Gerald Alpough, Michael Alpough (Tracy), Kenneth Alpough (Kathy), Deborah Darby, and Ronald Alpough (Janice). Joseph was blessed with one granddaughter from the marriage of Kenneth and Kathy, Alexandra Wilson (Ramond). From the union of Ronald and Janice, Tiffany Everidge and Timothy Everidge, became his grandchildren and Riana Everidge and Cyrus Words became his great grandchildren. Joseph is also survived by a plethora of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
