Eleanor Childress Hamlin “Frankie” was born October 11, 1948 in Wink, Texas to Troy and Virginia Lorene Childress. She is the sister of Troylene Pace, Thelma Bryant, Claudia Benson, Virginia Horsely, and Leonard Childress.
She received her high school diploma From Wink High School and completed some courses at Odessa Junior College. She worked for the federal government for over 30 years, holding multiple job titles.
Eleanor joined Zion Rest Missionary Baptist Church, with her girls Stephanie Smith, Jamilia Hamlin, and Sharayne Brown in 1995 and has been an active member ever since. She also met and married Charles Thomas, Sr. at Zion Rest. She loved her church and loved to sing. She was a part of multiple choir ministries as well as other ministries throughout the church.
She will be remembered for her beautiful smile that could brighten the darkest day, giving spirit, her soothing voice, but most of all her love for God, those around her and elephants…trunk up of course.
Eleanor “Frankie” is amongst the Wings Only Crew, watching over her family and friends that she loved so dearly. Singing and smiling.
