Armando Gurrola went home to our Lord on October 13, 2020 at the age of 73. He was born in El Paso, Texas on July 21, 1947. He was an alumnus of Bowie High School and UTEP. He was a proud veteran of the Vietnam War, where he served in the U.S. Army and received the Bronze Star Medal, two Air Medals, and the Army Commendation Medal. He retired from the Texas Department of Health and Human Services.
Armando married the love of his life, Edna, on October 3, 1981, and together they have always been a central fixture amongst friends and family. His family was always the most important thing to him. He was known for his playful sense of humor and his love for all his extended family and lifelong friends.
He was preceded in death by his beloved mother Concepcion Zarzosa Gurrola. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Edna Gurrola, his children Norman Keith (Lore), Joe Nutter (Whitney), Amanda San Miguel (Alex), and Armando S. Gurrola, his grandchildren Brady, Katelynn, Orion, and Reagan, his siblings Arturo Gurrola and Marta Jimenez, his mother-in-law Romy Ledesma, and numerous relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 19, 2020 from 5-7 pm with a rosary at 7 pm at Martin Funeral Home East at 1460 George Dieter. Details for livestreaming are on the Martin Funeral Home East website. Burial will take place at Fort Bliss National Cemetery in a private ceremony.
