Creola Cyprian was born in Folsom, Louisiana, on March 28, 1929, to Willie and Daisy Garrett. She was the older sister of the late Edward Garrett. They were raised on a Louisiana farm and were known to be hard workers.
Creola married the late Clarence Cyprian on March 12, 1952, and became a military wife with five beautiful children: Florence Johnson, Phyllis Collins, Howard Cyprian, Patricia Fryer, and Carl Cyprian. Creola also had a beautiful Goddaughter in Folsom named Kandace Garrett.
The Cyprian family, stationed in several states in the United States and the continent of Africa, retired from Davis Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson, Arizona. Creola was a loving grandmother to Roberta Fenty, Lavisha Alexander, Veda Adams, Latisha Biodun, Jewell Johnson, Thomas Freyer, and Kennedi Cyprian. She also loved her five great-grandchildren: Isaiah Cyprian, Donnell Neal, Ayanna Johnson-Nelson, Karter Harris, and the late Doneisha Neal and her two great-great-grandchildren: Damien Valenzuela and Zaylen Cyprian. Creola also leaves a host of nieces and nephews who she cherished dearly.
Creola enjoyed and loved all her children and grandchildren. She was very supportive and attentive to their needs. Creola raised all her kids and grandchildren in the church, Trinity Temple Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, In Tucson, Arizona, where she was very active. She served as the Arizona-New Mexico Conference Usher President for many years and on the Stewardess and Usher Board at Trinity Temple. Creola was blessed and always included her family, including her great-grandchildren, in her service at the church for God. Creola was also blessed to meet her great-great-grandson, Zaylen Cyprian, at the age of 91 years old. The night before she transitioned to be with the Lord, her eldest daughter Florence Johnson read Psalms 37 versus 10 and 11 to her. She then smiled and was at peace.
Creola enjoyed volunteer work in the community, and she would always extend her loving hands out to anyone in need. She was committed to Bible study and daily prayer; she was a faithful, loving woman of God. One of her favorite songs, This Little light of mine, I am going to let it shine, serves as a testament to her life, how she was a ray of hope to many, and a light for Christ. Creola Cyprian will be greatly missed by many.
