Rawlinson, Gwendolyn of Kennesaw, Georgia passed away peacefully on October 17, 2020. Born in Montreal, Quebec in 1933, she moved to Atlanta in 1965 with her husband and two young children. Survivors include her son James (Sharon) Bracegirdle of Georgia and her daughter Joanne (Stephen) Jones of New York, as well as seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Deborah Rawlinson of Calgary and Lorraine Rawlinson of Ontario, and many beloved nephews, nieces, friends, and caregivers.
Gwen retired from Sears Cumberland Mall after 35 years in the Security Department.
She was a proud member of the Smyrna Jaycettes, being named Most Outstanding New Jaycette at the state convention in 1971. For the past 19 years, Gwen was an honorary member of the Cobb County Fire Department’s Station 8 in Kennesaw, where she watched over her boys on the B Crew.
As were Gwen’s wishes, her cremated remains will rest with her beloved sister, Joan, in
Calgary, Canada. A memorial service will be held on November 14th at 11am, Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home, 2950 Cobb Pkwy NW, Kennesaw, Georgia. The family will receive guests following the service in the reception room. COVID requirements will be followed: 50 attendees, social distancing, and masks are required.
