Dale served in the United States Army for over 20 years and was a veteran of the Korean War. He was a former member of VFW Post #8919 in El Paso, TX and was also a member of the National Depression Glass Association. Dale was an active member of Canyon Creek Baptist Church in Temple, Texas.
Among Dale's many interests, he sold and traded in Depression Era glassware, was a substance abuse counselor helping many an addict in their time of need, and was himself a "Friend of Bill's."
His life will be forever cherished by his family: children, Daniel Orey Bass and wife, Sheila of Temple, TX; daughter Dolores (Dee) Ross and husband, Mike, of Newark, TX; Steven Dale Bass of Belle Plaine, KS; Harold Owen and wife, Debbie, of Bastrop, TX; Gwen DuBose and husband, Mack, of Edmonds, WA; Susan Williams and husband, Jeff, of Colville, WA; his 12 grandchildren, Erica Boyd and husband, Nate; Nathaniel Dale Bass; Lauren Graves and husband, Daniel; Brian Ross and wife, Jessica; Jason Ross and wife, Chelsea; Scott Owen and wife, Kristi; Michelle Ganus and husband, Michael; Matthew Owen; Jeremy DuBose and wife, Jessica; Jennifer Hancuff and husband, Rob; Owen Williams and wife, Merissa; Asa Williams and wife, Jodi; Laura Biasca and husband, Travis; and 30 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Richard Burton, and wife, Anne, of Havre de Grace, MD.
Dale was preceded in death by his wife, Betty; fathers, Oscar Bass and Orey Burton; his mother, Mabel Burton; daughter, Nancy Timms; brothers, Charles Burton, Jerry Burton; and sister, Gladys Daniel.
