Carolyn passed away October 22, 2020 at her home in Reardan, Washington. Carolyn was born on October 9, 1931 in Chicago, Illinois to Ivan and Carmen Harry. The family moved to Inglewood, California where Carolyn grew up. She met and married Vern Clarine in 1951. They raised their young family in Cathlamet and Naselle, Washington before moving to Wenatchee, Washington in 1978 to maintain close family ties with their son, Greg. Following Vern’s death in 1990, her later diagnosis of Alzheimer’s and declining health, Carolyn moved to Las Vegas in 2015, where she was cared for by her daughter Lucinda and grandson Geoffrey. She relocated a last time to Reardan, Washington in 2019 to be closer to her extended family. Carolyn was a publicly recognized community volunteer throughout her life, actively supporting the VFW, Grange, Habitat for Humanity and NAMI (National Alliance for Mental Health). She could also be found volunteering at the polls during elections. Having briefly been in foster care for part of her childhood, Carolyn also became a foster parent to three children during the early years of her marriage to Vern. She was a fantastic cook, a dedicated mother and homemaker, as well as a resilient personality with a loving heart and persistent humor. Carolyn is survived by her four children Ronald G. “Greg” Clarine; Susan Thornsberry; Lucinda Krumkop and Carla Gamble along with 10 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 23 great-great grandchildren; as well as her brother Carter Harry. She is preceded in death by her husband, Vern, and a brother, Clifford Brown. A family memorial will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to your local Habitat for Humanity.
