Robert born November 21, 1935 in Statesville, NC, was a son of the late Robert James Dickens and Ida Davis Dickens. He was a graduate of Thomas Hills High School and the Embry-Riddle Aviation School in Florida.
Robert was a veteran serving with the US Army and had been employed as an aircraft mechanic for South East Airmotive in Charlotte for 40 years.
He was a faithful and active member of New Hope Baptist Church, serving as a deacon and usher.
Survivors include his wife, Loretta Hudson Dickens; 2 sons, Randy Dickens and his wife, Debbie and Barry Dickens; a granddaughter, Christina Griffin ; a great-grandson, Aaron Colvard and a sister, Ruth Pittman.
Friends may visit Wednesday, October 28, 2020 at New Hope Baptist Church, 7841 Idlewild Road, Charlotte, NC 28212 from 1 to 2 PM where funeral services are planned for 2:00 PM.
Military Honors, committal services and burial will take place at Sunset Memory Gardens.
