Born in New York on December 28, 1931, Maryann has always been known for her toughness and the resiliency gained through the loss of both of her parents at an early age. God gave her (and us) Nanny Feaster who brought unconditional love into our family and empowered this young girl to achieve success in everything she set her mind to. One thing everyone knew is that you could count on Maryann.
Married to Harry J, Schrader for 58 years, she loved him dearly and kept his memory close after his passing in 2012. This amazing couple raised six children who were always made to feel at the center of their parent’s lives. Ellen, Cathy, Susan, Patricia, Harry and Matt gratefully acknowledge that true gift of selflessness and are honored for the Good Life Mom and Dad provided. To that end, Maryann was the coordinator of all things; family chef, religion teacher, homemaker, the original soccer mom, task-master, and consoler. She was one of a kind.
Maryann’s life was surely adventurous with never a dull moment as she would say. She enjoyed wonderful life chapters living on Long Island, at the Red Barn of Princeton, New Jersey, and most recently in Charlotte, North Carolina. A clear highlight was her seven years aboard the Good Life II, with fun-filled intercoastal journeys from Block Island to The Bahamas. Maryann loved the water, a sunny day, a good book, Notre Dame football, and a glass of Pinot Grigio.
Relationships were strong and genuine throughout Maryann’s life, which was a blessing she counted among her most cherished. A loyal friend to many, a loving sister/aunt/cousin, a caring Mother-in-Law, involved Grandmother (to 16), and doting Great-Grandmother (to 5); Maryann thrived by being involved with, and informed by, ALL of the crazy storylines that make up this family. It is in all truth...the family she created.
We will remember her with smiles and laughter.
A Funeral Mass honoring the life of Maryann will be held at Saint Matthew Catholic Church, 8015 Ballantyne Commons Pkwy., Charlotte, NC at 1:00 pm on Thursday, May 6, 2021.
A graveside service will be held at Washington Crossing National Cemetery in Newtown, Pennsylvania at 1:00 pm on Friday, July 2, 2021.
