Ralph G. Heinrichs of River Forest, peacefully passed away at age 90 on October 31, 2020. Ralph was a loving husband of 69 years to Marilyn (nee Upton), proud father to Sharon (preceded in death) and Lynn Heinrichs, devoted grandfather to Nicholl (Doggett) and Stephanie (Virgo), and loving great-grandfather to Peyton (Doggett) and Addysen (Doggett).
As a young man, Ralph came to the Chicago area from Kentucky where he met and married Marilyn. He spent the first part of his working life as a retail milk driver and later joined the former Maywood-Proviso State Bank, retiring in 1995. Ralph was a whiz with numbers, adding long columns of figures in his head, and he could give directions to any location in the Chicago area without a map.
Ralph lived in Maywood for more than 35 years where he and Marilyn raised their family. He was an avid sports fan, but particularly passionate about high-school basketball. Ralph attended Proviso East basketball games and local tournaments for many years after his children were grown.
Ralph's faith and devotion to service were central to his life. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Oak Park where he served as a Sunday School teacher and treasurer. As a younger man, Ralph also used his musical gifts as a member of the choir and occasional soloist.
Due to pandemic complications, there will be no services at this time. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to Beyond Hunger (https://www.gobeyondhunger.org/).
